I am new driver (6mo) and becoming very dissatisfied with my current employer. I am very curious about Sharky. Is their $1000 guarantee for real? They say you only have to agree to drive for 5 1/2 days a week to receive that. I wonder is there a minimum mileage requirement? That would make it useless if there was.

    ichiban Thanks this.

Why don,t you just call them and ask them if there is a catch to the guarantee?

You are basically doing a 34 hour reset at home during the week. Not necessarily on the weekend.

They called me up a while back and I liked just about everything they said, until we got to hometime. I've got a wife and three kids that I actually like and like t obe around, so 1.5 days a week of hometime(i.e.34 hour reset) just wasn't going to cut it for me. The rest of it sounded like a pretty good company to work for. Good bennies, good equip, and good lanes. Hope this helps a little.

YEAH, they sound good to me too. I'm just hoping that it's not too good to be true. As far as hometime, this just happens to be a time where I'm willing to make a sacrifice today to make it better tommorrrow.

    big ups 18wdt!

    I agree with Mr. Chisum:

This is a first step but this site would be unnecessary if the recruiters were all that trustworthy!

I am currently working for Sharkey. Have been for about two months. The guarantee is legit. Very touchy on that min. 5 1/2 day thing. It is my understanding that if you turn down any loads for anything other then log book or mechanical reasons you get paid mileage that week. In my opinion their mileage pay sucks. $.37 per mile loaded or unloaded. NO add on like detention, layover, multi-stop etc...

For example if you have to go home because your kid is hurt, you go on mileage pay that week. Some drivers freak out over this but its not a punishment. Duh! With any company if you have to go home in the middle of the week your going to loose pay cause your not rolling. Why is this a surprise?

The dispatcher is pushing to get you at least 2700miles a week. They will try to get you to run over your hours. Whats new there! Just tell them your out of hours and no big deal.

You can make more then the guarantee but this is a little trickier. You have to drive over 2700miles per week for at least 4 weeks. At the end of 4 weeks if you did this they pay out the additional mileage at $.37.

They run Mack Visions 2002 or newer. 10 speeds. I like them but I have only driven 1998 and older Freightliners with automatics, so these are a step up for me. Their governed to 60 on the pedal and 63 on cruise. As for the paint job thats a matter of opinion.

I'll try to answer any questions if posted here but I'm only on once every couple of weeks.
