    Sure, but are premiums paid annually, monthly, other? Could the inability to cover the last payment be what put the company over the edge?

    The payment frequency info might be in the associated documents in the manual in the truck, or it might not. If unknown, then clean out the truck and go home.

    that load has an owner. I would call the shipper to find out who paid for freight, who is the owner. Then I would explain them the situation. I am sure the owner of freight would pay enough for fuel to get his load. You may ask how about driven miles ? Think this way , you did donation or served 3 days for your country. I would handle it this way.

    Good grief man she had zero choices there I would hire her no problem. Wow someone in the companies that do this no exactly the day it is going to happen and just throw their hands in the air like oh well????

    A phone call to the policy holder would let you know. I doubt that's something many drivers would be thinking about in that situation though and I've never seen it mentioned. Just wondering if I'm missing something.

    It's a good question, but I suspect you're right that most drivers wouldn't be thinking of it. Driving the truck could be putting them in extreme liability.

    Owner-op-heavy fleet HVH Transportation shutters operations
    HVH employee had this to say
    quote "A senior executive with HVH knowledgeable of the situation said rising liability insurance premiums were costing the company up to 11% of revenue per month, which caused the company to dip below the minimum liquidity threshold on a loan. The bank then took over and froze the company’s accounts Monday, Aug. 26, and will be putting the company into Chapter 7 bankruptcy and liquidating the business"quote

    If a company is still hiring drivers a week before they pull the plug, they are total crap.
    Not get hired because she abandoned load? Who at the now defunct company is going to put it on her DAC?
    Most drivers don’t have the money to rent a car(very expensive for one way) or even buy a bus ticket. All their drivers will never get paid their last checks.
    Yet the driver is expected to show respect to a company that just screwed them over royal.
    You have one choice, cut your losses and get home, or drive to a Swift terminal and get hired.
    My guess is there is no insurance and one smart cop Cheka it out and your parked.

    The companies that kept loaning them money to stay a float probably cut them off, they knew what would happen, the only notification the driver got was their fuel card was cut off, the mess they created is all on them.

    The right thing would be to get unloaded, get the shipper/receiver to pay you for the shipment personally. Then advertise you have a truck people can use to take their CDL driving test for a nominal fee.
