Trouble with driving the truck after you find out they went belly up is the insurance thing. You may not know if the insurance has been cancelled but you can bet the dot boys will. Some of them would be aholes enough to put you oos too, and then you have to get you and your stuff home from the scalehouse.

The asset-light company owns about 20 tractors and a terminal in Henderson, Colo., and the remainder of its fleet of 380 trucks is leased through Penske Truck Leasing Corp. and Ryder System Inc., he said.

Penske said drivers on the road should turn in their vehicles.

“Penske Truck Leasing can confirm that HVH Transportation is a customer and that it has begun repossessing its units,” said Randolph Ryerson, a Penske spokesman. “Any HVH Transportation drivers with Penske units still in their possession should turn in vehicles to their nearest Penske location or call.”

Kenneally said higher insurance rates slammed the company as summer approached. While HVH had been paying $150,000 a month with a $100,000 deductible, he said the insurer raised the monthly rate to $358,000 and also asked for a $750,000 payment to write the policy. Kenneally said the increased liability costs hurt HVH’s cash flow.

On top of that, the company’s bank froze its assets in late August after its liquidity dipped below $500,000 — the second time this had happened, a senior company official said. The first time was in March. This occurrence forced the closure, the official said.

Maybe you couldn't handle business in shorts and flip flops with sores on your feet, but when I show up in a tuxedo tshirt, Jordache jeans and some white New Balance, I look approachable and business minded. They hand me cash instantly.

    Are you applying for martyship?

If she’s got 40K of frozen seafood on from a small to mid sized company, that’s easily a quarter million $. It could be a first load to a new customer someone has been trying to land for a decade, and this will now close that opportunity forever.

Losing one load like that can easily put a company under, and put all THEIR employees on the street.

Just because it’s a “company” doesn't mean real, honest, hardworking, community minded people won’t get caught by the shrapnel.

Making a few phone calls and acting like a mensch, instead of a martyr is the right thing to do.

    Karma is real.

That's what insurance is for. If the company is so cash flow poor they can't wait for the insurance check, then they are going under anyway.

Rental car Barstow, CA to OKC, OK is about $350 one way drop included. She said she was going to bobtail, but if she hadn't fueled before they cut her off, she might run out of fuel before she got home.
We most likely will never see how this ends up. The chance of her coming on TR and asking about a job is kinda slim.

I believe Ryder and Penske should’ve jumped in and helped. The can afford to fuel trucks and pay drivers to bring them to their shop and get them a bus ticket.
Going to cost them more to send out recovery teams.
