You can call bs but contact Athens Technical College and ask them. I learned to float. Took my cdl exam flaring the gears. Don't call bs on me

I do both I always double clutch on down shifts it just feels weird to touch the fuel in gear when I'm trying to slow down idk I never do things the way other do... I mainly only float on hard acceleration ( got get up to speed merge heavy load) I rarely grind gears I am sure we all grind one once in awhile? Wether it's from having seat in wrong position or just plain old brain fart... I once even tryed to shift into 10th from 10th guess my brain wasn't awake that morning

It really comes down to the examiners Interpretation of the state exam o e guy may decide you have to double clutch to safely shift gears the other may decide you don't... Many times these examiners are not experienced CDL holders... I do believe they have to have a CDL though? Not sure on that one

The only synchros in a road ranger are on the range shift.

There are synchro rings but in the parts books they are referred to as "clutches", they are available in different thickness to allow setting up the mainshaft spacing.

regarding double clutching vs floating, what Eaton fuller says is " break torque"' so either way is good. in 55 years of driving putting over two million miles on several trucks I rebuilt one transmission and only a bearing job at that.I pesos ally have always floated, but whatever works, works.

Me too. Seems I'm always thinking I should have one more gear.
