The reversed position of 4/5 dealt with how Eaton was able to design the linkages and the position of the overdrive gear in the transmission. Similar to a set of boxes where being "up against the dash" meant being in the big hole.
15-directs had the same position as a 10/ 13/ 18 on the 4/5 holes.
if you start out of deep reduction in 1st, shift to 2nd, hit the "splitter" and drop back to 1st hole, then ladder up the gears.
OR shift in deep reduction up to 5th hole, hit the splitter, drop back to 4th, then ladder up.
Either method works. I prefer the second.
if you're bobtailing leave it out of deep reduction and drive it like a 10spd
