I just graduated from school and I had the same issue with the double down shift(8-6) (6-4) so the trainer told me to single downshift. That worked for me. Problem was that I was not reving high enough to get the double down and grinding the gears. The times I did get it in I dropped rpms to 750-800 then reved to 2000 and it popped right in. I always had problems with reving high enough. The instructor said if it aint broke don't fix it. If I was more comfortable singling down then do it. Passed the test with a total of 5 points out of 25 allowed. Only grinded gears 1 time. So do what ever is more comfortable to you!!!
