I don’t know why box jockeys put up with this stuff. Come on over to the open deck world, it’s more work, but you’re generally treated like a Human.

I always mark if not allowed on dock and wrote out . “shipper load and count, driver not responsible, not allowed on dock to verify condition or quantity of freight”.

As an owner operator one time I had a load of electronics and the broker wanted me to count the load.

I backed into the door and by the time I got into the building they told me the trailer was already loaded. There was only a few pieces on there but they would not let me onto the dock. It was a similar thing that once I sign for that load I'm signing everything that's on there.

So I called the broker. So we kind of went round and round finally the broker spoke with the supervisor the supervisor spoke with me the three of us spoke together and the Broker sent me an email saying that the shipper was responsible for what was loaded on the truck.

Luckily that was for a good broker. But never underestimate it because in the end especially if you're an owner-operator, you signed that you counted that load and it comes up short there's no court in the world that's going to say they told you it's okay so forget about it.

Stamps are cheap and they are official looking. Stamp copies #1 #2 #3 etc. I had three of them made
Team Load, Load Tarped and Shipper Load & Count
