I have a question for some of you veterans. I have only been doing this for a couple weeks now and I have got on a few shippers list. Im seeing on these list, a lot of shippers are offering to pay reefers less than $1.50/per mile and thats before I put anything on for my company. My questions are: 1. Is it worth the effort to work these list? 2. How the heck do you get a carrier to haul for that? 3. Can you make any money with these list?
There are no magic list for freight,,best way to find a good shipper is referrals from someone you trust, I have had shipper and consignees approach me because of good service, professional attitude and have clean top notch equipment, Made $300,000 in 2 1/2 years from ,loads paid $24K for 2600 miles each load because shipper was fed up with Landstar drivers, did 8 loads paying $5600 for 220 miles for the same shipper . Landstar drivers hit guard shacks at the gate, did not show, had wrong equipment, refused to tarp , you name it. Loads were 70,000# 12W and no pilot cars,, easy OS loads. Little foot note,,Agent was locked up 2 times in one year for DUI and cocaine and Landstar did not fire him.. If you want to do drugs become a Landstar agent
