Now a lot of shippers and receivers have banded together to protest the new HOS regulations. Add that to the trucking group protests, and this thing is building quickly.

bout darn time we get others to fight for us instead of just ooida
course, you know. as time goes on. more veterans will retire. leaving space for more rookies.
it won't be long now before us OUTLAWS are dead. and all that's left are rookies who know nothing but the box. -
IMO, the net result of the HOS changes will be an increase in highway deaths - due to the reasons cited in the article. A result of the FMCSA caving to political pressure. Or... is it something in Ray LaHood's past that has him grinding an axe against trucking?
CAXPT, bullhaulerswife and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
No matter the government agency, when they come up with new ideas on how to regulate something, they rarely, if ever, consider the unintended consequences of their actions. Nor do they care.
CAXPT, CondoCruiser, bullhaulerswife and 2 others Thank this. -
What's HOS? Is it paper or plastic? Can we eat it?
Its about time they(Shippers and Receivers) realized that log books aren't that bandy. -
Actually not true, at least for me anyway. I've learned more than I could have hoped for from you guys not found in any book or manual and still do, and will continue to do so until the day I stop driving. Has all the advice been credible and safe? No, but for the most part, that's been the exception and not the rule.
And if I've received good solid TTP's, what good are they if I keep them all to myself? I'm far from being a seasoned veteran, but I work my way towards it every single day and share what I've learned if the opportunity presents itself. And if I don't know, I'll ask.scottied67 and CAXPT Thank this. -
i wasn't talking about the websight. i was strictly talking about those of us that were taught how to work on our own accord vs. you newbies that are taught nothing but the box.
as far as i'm concerned. this websight is the most vaulable tool for all us truckers.chalupa, Raiderfanatic, Rocks and 1 other person Thank this. -
a shipper complaining about freight delays? where in the hell are these guys located? i cant remember the last time i was at a shipper who was in a hurry to get the truck loaded and rolling.
Raiderfanatic, CAXPT, dirtyjerz and 2 others Thank this. -
You have to mention to them.......
"take all the time you want, I get paid detention after 2 hours so take your time if you want. Doesn't bother me"

At least it seemed to work for me when I hauled a box...not always, but it did work more times than not.
-
And don't forget to tell them how much the detention time is costing "per minute". If the truck is getting $60. per hour, that $1.00 per minute, kind of gets somebodies attention real fast.
