I am trying to get a cost to ship a shipping container but don't know the lingo. Can somebody tell me how to ask for that kind of quote? What do you call hauling conex containers? My be a stupid question but I will risk it.
You got it right Connex or shipping container. About 3.50 a mile if its going 200 miles. More if it’s going short miles. I haul them in Texas
There are local companies nation wide that will drop off a container wherever you want it under rental. Conex is the correct name. Do not confuse with TONU. That is a standard 20 foot box container used Globally.
TONU stands for "Truck ordered, not used" I think the term you're looking for is TEU...see below What are TEU and FEU Shipping Containers? | Freightos
You may find a local tow company with a landoll that will haul it for you, they would be equipped to drop it and pick it back up off the ground, lots of the trucking companies seem to have problems with loading without forklifts
