Shipways truck stop

    That's definitely not the truck stop,never looked that nice.Related tourist camp probably.The truckstop was on the mountain going up,wasn't a level spot like that.As you're going up the hill on I 68 westbound,(Negro Mountain)you can look off to the right,and you see a blue pole barn garage with a fence around it,some abandoned trucks and junk,that's where Shipways Truckstop used to be.

    As a young teenager we used to go to Savage Mtn for deer season, we stopped at Shipways. It was freezing cold and they had the best navy bean soup. Always wanted to learn how to make it and maybe some cornbread to go with it.

    My dad was born in 35', he must have gone to the original, and the post card is the old or first shipways that was up on top of the mtn, ¿old 40?
