"Shop fees"

Yeah, that sucks. At least trucks and trailers are exempt.

TBH, shop fees It’s the first I’ve heard of on here, usually here, at least in Cali, the “few” shops I’ve used, they use the term “Miscellaneous”.

 

My uncle just took a bunch of chainsaw chains down to the shop to be sharpened, same place I worked at in highschool. He said now they're charging the customers a fuel surcharge. Really? Just to sharpen some chains.

If it was me I'd of just raised the price some to compensate not try that bs. It's not like you're picking them up and dropping them back off to me

 

Tell your uncle that sharpening chains is easy. There are all kinds of videos on YouTube that explain it in great detail. Everybody I know sharpens their own and, unless you're using square ground chain, you can do a better job than the saw shop and your chains will last longer and you'll save some bucks..

Burn down the hospital they were born in

 

I know it's really easy. It's been a few years since I've cut firewood but I'd take 15 min after and touch it up with the file. He's not as careful about hitting the ground Lol. Brings down half a dozen at a time to get sharpened.

When I first started working there that was all I did pretty much was sharpen chains. Then they bought a 20k auto sharpener that made my life a lot easier. The lumber industry is pretty big around here too and some guys were dropping off 20+ chains at a time every other week

 

Blew a tire on my trailer. Rear inside. Took out my mudflap, bent the hanger. Never heard a thing. Ran 450 miles straight. Noticed it when I was delivering this morning. Luckily McMahon’s tire in Ft . Wayne has a shop now in Fremont In. 16 miles away. Got reloaded and in before they closed. 1 used 11Rs/22.5 Bridgestone steer $250. Only one they had. Only one I could find. It’s like new, but has had a bandag repair in the tread. Good enough. $50 to install, $9.50 for valve stem $19.00 misc Shop fees, $20.00 for tire disposal. No sales tax. Wasn’t anything left of the tire but the beads, around rim. Rest was gone. Total $357.50. Guy straightened out the hanger. ABS light was on for a couple minutes, then went off. Sensor maybe got knocked loose, wires probably damaged. For now, it’s off. The fees are aggravating, but regardless, I was in a jam, they did me right, as always. I couldn’t thank the guy enough.

 

That's when you're paying for experience/knowledge from a top-flight tech. Would you complain if it was the other way around?
