Concord NH KW is $120 an hour, the independent shop I use in enfield CT for engine stuff Is also $120 an hour, depending on what needs to be done, it may or may not be cheaper then the beer I need to deal with the job myself....

 

$100.00 hourly rate.

 

You need to estimate your cost in order to calculate your labor. Your employee cost is almost double what you pay the employee.

Normally add 15-20% to parts. This will cover fixed utilities. Keep in mind you will need to inventor and pay tax on unsold goods.

 

Sometimes I wonder why even charge per hour.
Had a service writer tell me we charge 4 hours for this job but I have a guy that can do it in one.
One hour later I was shifting gears ⚙ again.

 

Where are car shops charging that little? I’m moving.

 

That’s why labor should be quoted in dollars, not hours.

 

Repair work is done by "book" hours. Big book that has every job listed and how many hours it is to be charged. A new mechanic will take longer to do it while a seasoned pro can do it much faster.

 

That "book" is about 90% horse####.
