I really have not seen the new ones, my 27 Mhz antennas are kind of old, and now I run broad band antennas because of the HAM channels.

My 579 original came with 4 footers. After breaking those within a week I swapped them out for 2 footers. I had to change the passenger side one last week, but after 3 years that isn’t too bad.
Now the funny part....
We have a few other trucks running 2 footers too, and they don’t even have radios. It gets better. I asked one of those guys where they got theirs and he said “from the shop”, so I asked one of our crack team of parts non-changers for one who replied with this gem. “CB don’t come in 2’. They only come in 3’ and 5’ because of the wavelength”.
Really??
I said “go out there and look on the roof of that truck on the drivers’ side”. Mr. Know-it-all wound up with egg on his face.
rabbiporkchop and Powder Joints Thank this. -
I wouldn't put nothing short on anyways unless your in the woods n such most of the time..Makes radio work harder to do less..

I agree. 2' antenna is just not worth the effortrabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Just run a whip style like a Wilson 2/5k. They take tons of abuse and are pretty flexible. Also, you can replace just the whip easily with an allen key.
