    Sure they do. But the jobs are hard to come by, and they are usually referred to as "local work." You might want to look at an LTL for local work. But be warned, it is HARD WORK. It means doing pickup and delivery at local stops. (Local being close enough to your terminal that you don't need to keep a log.)

    It will involve you handling just about all the freight that you carry. You will likely both load, and unload it, or at the very least, tail gate it at your stops. You will get very good at getting a big truck into a small space. Fighting with local traffic on a daily basis, and making friends, (or at least acquaintances) with your repeat customers.

    Yes, but this is usually for retired drivers. You don't get paid all that much because your only running 50-100 miles a day and then sitting for 6-8 hours to get loaded and unloaded.

    vavega, you wouldn't make money if someone gave you a truck free to run your business! Just paying for fuel would put you out of business! Lets say you charge a dollar a mile. You run hard that day and end up with 100 miles. Now you have to sit at Walmart and get unloaded for 6 hours.
