One thing you should look out for are emissions related problems on something with those miles. You should familiarize yourself with the system before you start getting codes, because you can lose a lot of money to dealers on those issues. Volvo doesn't have a very good network, both coverage and service wise. Since you don't really have a choice where you get derated, it helps to be proactive on replacing parts.

It might even be better to just run it hard and then save the money for a down payment and trade it in for a new truck. You can replace some emissions parts and be good for another few years maybe, but then you've got to worry about wheel ends, injectors, EGR valve, or whatever popping up at any point. The important factor in this is that your work doesn't dry up and leave you with a big payment, and you both still enjoy doing what you do.
