    You can get a job,

it will have to be a smaller company.

    Forget the big companies.

There are small outfits that will hire you !!

Swift says no all the time, Chompi. Apparently, you haven't seen a single one of the many threads started by people who were turned away by Swift.

Perhaps our O/P could try Prime or May.

Unfortunately, the companies can afford to be more choosy right now. There are many, many quality drivers out of work. I should think a 10-year-old conviction like that would be allowed by someone, though. Unless there's something about it or something since then that we're not hearing about. Or our O/P is presenting it similar to what he's saying here. As said before, it was by the O/P's own doing. If it's presented to a potential employer as "my lawyer messed up my case" or "&#$% happens" it will not instill much confidence for the employer. A better presentation would be to take responsibility for it by saying something like, "yes, I messed up and learned from it. I have done ________ to improve my life since then." A potential employer will be more apt to take a second look at someone willing to admit their mistakes and move forward with life.

Our O/P will have to work harder to get his foot in the door. But when he does land that job, he will be more appreciative of it than the one to whom things come easy. I believe this appreciation will make him a better employee. We tend to treasure those things we have to work for more than those that were given to us.

Don't give up. Look in your local phone book under "Trucking" "Transportation" Hauling" or any other appropriate heading and go knock on doors in person. Look ready to go to work, clean, presentable, with real work clothes on and your resume, license and medical card in hand. Start at a cement plant or waste management if you have to. There's no shame in driving a dump truck or even a bus. Just get a door opened and move up from there.

Marijuana? I was charged 30 yrs ago, misdemeanor charge, pled guilty, nothing else on my record. Im talking to a Swift recruiter, she had security call me and talk to me. It went before some board for review. I was giving to go ahead from the board. BUT, I put it on my app when I applied also. I wasnt trying to hide it. IDK if you did or not. Soooo, If you didnt put it on your app, they see it as you lying to them. I dont know what would happen if it was another drug.

Yeah, although I dont have a possession charge,I have a DUI from 1987 & 1982....In Mn,they are on my MVR for life, and although none of us stay the same,-at least I am different from 25 years ago, some companies do not care....However,although probably 30% of the big companies throw my app away, small companies have taken good care of me,and, after doing this for almost 7 yrs....IMO smaller companies is the way to go anyhow, after talking to many drivers on the road, and since joining this great forum & reading what is posted here....YOU WILL DO JUST FINE,- "DRIVE ON":biggrin_25519:
