Should A New Driver Allow No APU/INVERTER to be a Deal Breaker?

Us xpress allows up to 1500 watt inverters which is more than enough to run a mini fridge and a microwave. They install them for you too. Though I leave the truck running when i use the microwave cause between the two they use a lot of power.

They also have bunk heaters however I can't run mine because my fridge is so big that by ten hours later the batteries are drained too much to start the truck. However I have a cat so my truck runs pretty much 24/7. They don't bother me about it because of her.

 

We dont have APU'S, we idle all night.
I have microwave, dvd player (looking for tv) and foreman grill and mini fridge.
As long as you can idle its no biggie.

 

A cigarette lighter plug in inverter will power a laptop, OR a tv and DVD player.
Heck, you could easily hide it when you go in the shop.
That's all I need, but then I don't want to cook in the truck.

 

How does that work out otr? Doesn't the litter box create a odor problem?

I have good litter and shovel it regularly so it's no big deal. The litter does get everywhere though cause I have an open top box but I have a cordless vacuum and made it so a rug catches most of it.

I honestly couldn't do this job without her.

New to trucking and already has wants and needs.
I suppose you want a brand new truck with heated seats also.
Oh yea has to be air ride and an auto tranny as I don't like shifting.
You want fries with this order also.......

 

Issue you is let's say you have 2500 watt inverter that has 2 ground and 2 positive terminals. If you use only 1 set of wires not two you will overload the wires and causes great chance of it catching fire. 2 sets splits electrical load up so doesn't overload it.

 

Apu/inverter is important to me. Got fridge, microwave, coffee maker, charge my cell phones, etc. Inverter is a must.
