I've got some money on the side for any emergency repairs. I know both are old trucks with many miles and will have some issues down the road but at least I'll not have to make any payments on them. Even with newer trucks a lot of people spend money and time at dealer for repairs. I really like the power of CAT but more things lead me to go for Volvo with Cummins. Thanks for your opinions folks, we need to support each other with advices.

Fuel economy worse on a cat. I drove one 2 years ago. I only got above 6 mpg when I did 62 mph. Granted I only had recaps on the tractor and trailer. Cept steers of course.

If you get the cat would you have 15 k sitting in cash afterwords? Would the Cummins truck leave you broke after you bought it?

I want to buy a truck too. One concern i have is a major repair needed to soon leaving me broke.

Either one will nickel and dime the hell out of you so I'd say go for the Freightshaker. Waaayyy more service points around for Freightliner than Volvo and parts are easier to come by in a pinch.

If you're looking to spend $20-30,000 already, why don't you wait a little longer, save a little more and buy a truck that's worth buying?
