That would last for weeks, at most. Doing nothing leads to complete boredom, which would lead to you doing something.
Should I even bother trying again?

Is it really sick and wrong that I'd probably still drive truck part time? Granted, I'd own it and it would the top of the line, but.... -
You have had many posts and many threads over the last few months. NOWHERE in those posts did you state that you WANTED to be a truck driver or liked anything about the job. In many posts however, you said how much you loved and missed your family. Trucking, especially OTR, is not a job that you can do and be successful at if you don't love it.
You have had many misfortunes along your journey, and have admitted to several safety related issues. If at any time you had said how much you really wanted to succeed because you WANTED the job, I would say keep trying, keeping trying to achieve your dream. But this isn't your dream, more like your nightmare of last resort. Whether you admit it or not, that attitude towards trucking is showing up in your driving abilities, or lack thereof.
Cut your lossses and move on. Move on while you still have your family intact. More importantly, move on while you still have your LIFE and future intact. You have had several lapses in judgment on the road, which haven't led to serious consequences only by sheer luck.
You tried and you failed. That happens. Pick yourself up and move on while you can.misterG, TheHealthyDriver, onthefence and 2 others Thank this. -
Irondog and TheHealthyDriver Thank this.

It sounds to me that you're just not "cut out" for trucking. One...the HARD time you have getting a handle on it and ..Two......your commitment to being with your family. My suggestion is to find something else.
I want to be a Rock Star....but I can't sing. -
onthefence, this is the first time I read your posts. Nicely saying, I'm not being smart... you can try the free training and go from there. But your track record says you are not cut out for trucking. It's nothing to be ashamed of, you tried. We're all good at some things and bad at others. Like someone else said, you get out there, the first storm will eat you alive. There's no room for you to make numerous mistakes when it comes to human lives. If you can't sing and play an instrument, you don't need to be in a band. Lol, irondog, I wrote this before I read yours. But we're thinking the same.
onthefence, I would concentrate my efforts elsewhere. There are many other trades you can do. -
His problem is he trained on autoshifts, and now having problems with a manuel. But that accident isn't going to help either. For now, go get a job at the burger joint during the day, and security guard at nite. You won't g
et much sleep though. Put the wifey to work doing babysitting (daycare) -
Not in the least. If ya love it, ya love it. -
Oh, I'm sure I can give ya a run for your money.DirtyBob Thanks this.
