And you still tried it. One thing you must be able to do in this industry is know your limitations, and heed by them. You said you should've refused, "but they'd just find another excuse". Wrong answer. The safety of you and those around you should've taken priority over what you speculated might've happened if you'd played it safe and not tried driving at night on no sleep.
I'm sorry, but if you can't figure that much out, you really have no business being behind the wheel of a big truck.
Should I even bother trying again?

I'm sorry but I have to agree. What if you ran into me and ruptured my tank. You ever see 12,000 gallons of gasoline go up in flames? You've got to know the basics and that trainer looks like he or she fell down on the job. Plus you school should have pounded safety into your head. But we do realize that there's a lot of schools are there for the money and could care less. Then you get a driver trainer that's only there for the extra pay.
This is why I have sugested that the driver trainer be added as an endorsement to the CDL and have them follow certain requirements. But it can not just stop there. There must be a written program requirement from the FMCSA folks and inspections that are held with the company. You've got to have a good safety program that is working and just not on paper. -
All of the jobs are in the south and out west. Places like Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Oregon, Washington, North Carolina... that's where all the jobs are now. Not New York.
If you look up lists for "best cities for jobs"... they are all in those areas:
Best big cities for jobs
Best mid-sized cities for jobs
Best small cities for jobs
Places in Texas are #1 on all those lists, and their other cities are in the top 10 as well. I don't think I saw one city from the northeast on any of those lists. Morgantown, WV was the closest IIRC. -

you need to go to company as a trainee. Many companies will pay your tution for 12 months.

It looks like you are the one for looking for excuses. You failed the driving test at how many companies so far? 3 IIRC.
Resulting in at least 2 accidents IIRC? -
There was one accident with a car a year ago where the other car hit me. I had one accident in a truck where I was making a left turn and slid over the hood of a van.
And for your information, I did NOT know I was going to be driving all night until well after midnight! If I had known in advance I would have spoken with the trainer. -
Jarhed1964 Thanks this.

In case you haven't noticed, I am NOT you.
Funny, they told me in CDL School that Trucking was a brotherhood. Really? This is how you talk to 'brothers?'
