TWIC cards are good to have, many military bases will accept them and government supply depots as well.

They are just not for ports anymore

I highly doubt you will need a TWIC card for either of those companies. I would wait until you are hired and find out if the require it. TWIC cards are for going to ports and I don't think Prime does much of that.

Just out of curiosity, why are going to a mega-carrier? Being from N.C. you should have thousands of good companies to choose from. Yes of course getting a job with a mega-carrier is much easier but not always worth it. There are lots of good smaller mom and pop companies in your area that I am certain would give you a shot. Don't listen to your school recruiters. They get paid to send you to those companies!

I would highly recommend you take the time and do some more homework. I would reserve Prime/Werner as a last option. Craigslist often has really good gigs posted on there and also here is another site that will help you find some good smaller companies:

    Good luck to you...

My current employer doesn't go into ports so no TWIC card. Only worry about it if your company does.

I can't see paying for something that you may not even need. You are more likely to need the hazmat endorsement than a TWIC.
