As long as he is an experienced driver , he should be able to teach you how to drive. You have to remember too you are the student. Do as you are instructed, ask questions along the way. Treat him with respect and I'm sure you'll be fine. Expect though to not be hand- held through this process , you will make mistakes , be corrected, as long as he treats you with respect listen and learn. With lots of emphasis on the listening part.

Speaking for myself, I would rather have a guy with that kind of experience.

What do you want in an instructor? I would want someone that knows the material, is able to express himself and convey that material to the students, will answer my questions, and is a friendly type that is willing to help students on any matters that come up. You should be able to answer those questions after two days in class with him.....I would not use his 2 months as an instructor as a reason to ask for another instructor.

Oh Boy, when I first got into safety, I was called boring & monotone. Teaching a room full of drivers is not an easy job. I started with the lesson then realized they already know this stuff, just have to bring it out.
I reverted to when I was just learning. I made my job fun for the drivers & myself. I can back a truck into a shoe box, explaining it to you is a challenge. I made my promise, I taught one. He bought my rig. You both learn together.
I use tricks. Driver, did you see that car full of topless girls in that VW just go past us on the right? I sure did. Works for Female drivers also, Chipindale dancers? Main thing is they watch the right side of the truck more. People have buttons. as a teacher you have to know the right ones to push.

Wolf, we draw from what we see, you know that. Momma was with me in Ill, a car came up next to the truck, Girls in a Camaro. My fault no doubt. I looked down, that's my job. Kids flashing me. She sat in her chair naked from the neck down a few hours later doing cross word puzzles. We were the talk on 19 for awhile. I didn't mind, several other drivers didn't either. I still can't explain why she did that. Maybe it's a girl thing.

I would value his experience OTR. I learned a lot in my life from people that have been there, done that. Obviously He needs to be able to convey the concept verbally. I wouldn't be too quick to kick the guy to the curb, especially if he's sincere about teaching.
