I just had gasteric sleeve surgery, and for a lot of us, it's part of the answer to lose weight. You are limited by the smaller stomach, so if you follow the diet plan and combine with some exercise you will be much healthier
-
Simple fact...
Eat less and you gain less weight.
Heck, you might even lose it.
If you eat less your stomach will shrink on its own. No need for surgery. -
Gastric bypass or gastric sleeve surgery is not for everyone. I can only speak for myself. I could not lose the weight on my own-and I tried. The surgery is a tool that has been extremely successful for those of us who are in the "morbidly"obese range. It was the right move for me.

Reading your post makes me sad. It makes me sad because of the lifestyle most truckers are forced into. You have maybe 10 minutes and are in say a PILOT TS, your hungry but don't have a lot of time? Most will grab something off the rack (honey bun etc etc ) and motor. I know you can take food with you and a lot do because of the horrible prices food costs on the road. However it is a simple fact some truckers either can't or don't. (day cab drivers come to mind) The schedules most OTR truckers have is all over the clock. (especially true for reefer drivers)
Hand, I am in your corner and am sorry this has happened. I just hope your fix is permanent. -
Thank you all for the great answers that you gave me. I went to the for the DOT physical yesterday and was able to talk to him. The doctor was great he does not know why that my personal doctor wants me to get the bypass. He suggested that I should go on the Atkins diet to lose weight.

That surgery is for ppl 100 lbs or over what youre suppose to weigh. If you want to pursue this industry you need to get busy and start losing weight.Change your eating habits, get a special diet from your doctor.Youre tall so you probably don't look 325 lbs.Youre big frame so look at the weight chart and see how much Youre suppose to weigh for your height and frame. You could stand to lose some weight but I doubt youre a candidate for such a surgery.

To the op, want to lose weight
Get a job that you are active instead of sitting on your butt for 11 hours.
Don't care what others say, this work does not allow time to take off calories during the work day, instead you try to burn it off during a burst of excersizing.
My wife went through the band (big disaster) and then the sleeve which helped a lot but because of the issues with the band, there were and still are serious issues with her food intake. The best thing is avoid this and learn how to learn good habits. -
Think long and hard about that surgery. A friend's brother was in your same position and he did it. He didn't obey doctors order of 1 oz of food or drink at a time, one night in a bar maybe a month after his surgery was his last day. He was also 26 I believe. Another friend of mine was a waitress in said bar....she knew the risk but was powerless.
If you cut out all refined sugars you will lose weight quickly at first. Just plain walking works well. Your phone should have a step counter on it. Pick a number and try to get it every day. They recommend 10,000. Even if you start with 2,000 and work up to it you will find you will eventually start to jog or run. Then your mind is in the place you will want to go to the gym and eating right and avoiding sugar will come as second nature.
Good luck to you. I say this as I sit down for a cheeseburger, fries and root beer. I face the same struggle... -
Careful there. That is not by any means universal. My last 2 years I pulled reefer. I spend many many long hours being unloaded. I used to get out and walk. Once I walked completely around a Walmart DC while being unloaded. I also used to love to walk around truck stops (when I could and not gag at the smell of putrid urine) and look at tractors etc etc. When being unloaded I also sometimes gave the traffic office my phone number and got out and walked to a store or other place just to get out and stretch my legs. It is not easy and your right it does NOT fit a lot of trucking schedules but not all of them.
