    I talked to the recruiter.

They stated in my area they have a CDL School in the same city that I live in where they would pay me $80 a day to attend the CDL School at one of their terminals. They stated that theirs no contract to stay with them and hypothetically I could leave 3 months in and not owe anything, I verified this with her twice. Also stated id be get my CDL on an auto with an auto restriction.

The three cons I have is one is the pay is starting at .38 cents a mile. I'm not sure if this is good or bad but I was looking at flatbed companies that were paying more, might be because its flatbed and vans pay lower?

the other con is they stated its a 5 week program to get my CDL then i'm only OTR with a trainer for a week. This seems like a small amount of time but Schneider is known for the training so it might be enough????

third con is that I have to stay OTR for 6 months before I can switch to a dedicated, tanker, or LTL route. So I have to be out for 2 weeks at a time with 2 days at home.

    Seems like a fair deal.
Don't be concerned about the automatic restriction; most modern fleets are going 100% automatics.
A week with a trainer, especially pulling dry van, is plenty of time. You're an adult and don't need a baby sitter and I'm not being sarcastic about that, so don't take me wrong.
Pay attention in cdl school and you'll be just fine. You'll learn much faster on the road when you don't have someone in the passenger seat running their mouth.
Think about this; how many Schneider trucks have you seen involved in wrecks?
Schneider knows exactly what they're doing with a short training period. Sure, it will probably be longer if you're new and going straight into flatbeds or tankers.

That's a great deal, plus they are paying you $80 to attend school/train. Get your 1 year in and then you have many options.

    Your obligated to something.
If not, then every student in America would go
To Schneider, get the CDL, then quit the next day.
There not giving away charity CDL'S.

    Better read the fine print.

So they're going to pay you to go to their school and then only expect 3 months?

Did they also offer to throw in a bridge?

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

R.E.West has a better deal; cdl school and no contract to sign.
No $80.00 a day though; that I'm aware of.
