Yea, after watching lots of youtube videos of people who got their CDL through Schneider and the numerous recruiters I spoke to it is indeed free with no contracts.

Even read some guys who went through their CDL School just to never set foot in an orange truck.

I choose Schneider just for this reason honestly. I was going to do a local CDL School here in charlotte at the community college but it cost 2,200 but with Schneider its free and im getting paid for it.

Honestly i'm tempted to get my CDL and go work for Millis Transfer, but I don't have the heart to screw them over like that.

I'm stuck in the OTR position for 6 months so figured if I dont like the company or the opportunities dont arrise after 6 months i'll jump ship for Millis or Holland.

Might leave even earlier if I get a truck without an APU. Read some Schneider trucks are wired to shut off the engine rather then letting you idle. I cant sleep in the heat. Thats a safety hazard in my book.

Anyways, Cheers. Application is already in process.

You can't learn from someone else and go to Millis.

Classroom time is great. Drive time seemed a little hasty. They are sticklers about safety, which is not necessarily a bad thing. They are pretty organized l with a convenient app, drop yards everywhere and of *s to call if you need help. Pay seems low but loads are always ready for you.

If your deciding off you tube why are you here. I would not go to
Schneider. I would find a local school and pay for it, and go without an agreement, they are not going to train you without strings.

RE west pays either $200 or $300/week for the classroom (yard training) 2 weeks and call it a signing bonus. Then they pay $500/wk while on the road with a trainer for 3 weeks. No contract but if you leave before 6 months they hold the cost of the ask for the cost of the DOT physical and signing bonus back. Small company, Very laid back and the people are great.
