Maybe if they had a terminal in central FL, or a drop yard. Can't park in our driveway.

They want recent grads or three months exp. If you go in with three months they won't have to train us, we can start driving immediately after orientation, at .48 cpm, which is also top pay.wulfman75 Thanks this.

One of my boys got a postcard from Werner saying that they offer a $6,000 team sign on bonus;did you get that already or do you have to stay one year?
-
I think that's when u enter the company as an experienced team. We didn't get it.
Usx is offering $5k to teams currently. -
I get it . You had experience but not verifiable OTR to qualify for the 6G sign on bonus. As for you getting more miles,my son had been promised a dedicated HD account, that he was going to run as a team with a guy from Va.,it was between 4-6,000 miles per week. Unless you get on a dedicated account, they won't give you good runs. It's true that the big runs go to guys training students because they are cheaper to run. My son was getting $350 gross per week as a student for 14 weeks and running his tail off.Their business model counts on a constant stream of students to move freight as cheap as possible.

Well that's a positive...
I would never drive for any of the mega carriers... too easy to get worked over and they couldn't care less if you live or die.
I have driven for several smaller carriers in my 39 years and really prefer the close knit feel of a small company. If you time off it's usually easy to get... if you need to be somewhere they can usually route you thru the area.
I'd stay put but look for such a carrier who can run you long haul. Just remember that the railroads are getting more and more of the long haul freight... it's not as readily available as it was just a few years ago.JustSonny Thanks this. -
sorry but real truck driver like to grab gears' if i want to drive a automatic' i would drive my other truck.

Try Schneider. They hire select newer drivers especially teams. Have one of the best reputations of all mega-carriers. They have a tanker division, so you can diversify. Most everything I have heard of them is good. Downside is turn by turn directions and routes and a bit strict on rules. From what I have heard treat and pay drivers better than rest of mega carriers

Hey Krooser...question for you? My husband and I have recently graduated from Training and we are researching companies to hire us on as Company Team Drivers. Is Physical Damage insurance a requirement to purchase through the company that hires you? Also, is Occupational Accident insurance a standard requirement to purchase through the company that hires you? If so, how much should we anticipate paying?
