You have 3 kids. I'd stay with the benefits if it was me.

Also, you're gaining seniority where you are. One day you'll be one of the "older guys", and you can take or leave the overtime as you see fit.

You do you, though. Good luck!

By the time the courts started selling terminals, probably a year or so, the drivers were already working somewhere.

And you telling me you ran the board? Let's get this straight here for anyone looking at Estes. It's very terminal dependent. When I got hired, I was the ONLY one who chose to hit the board. The other drivers had runs DAY ONE. It's a known fact the East Coast at Estes is a nightmare, that's no lie. A million terminals etc but they've added pay bonuses to deal with that 10 hour 400 mile day.

If you go to a small terminal, it could be crazy... You know l never know. I'm from a big terminal... Lots of different opportunities. I'd say if you have a good thing going don't ruin it. Me personally, I do recommend Estes. Life changing opportunity here but remember... EVERYONE'S EXPERIENCE IS DIFFERENT DEPENDING ON LOCATION.

When I started, they had 8 of us on the open board, yes. I was a Tuesday start which meant I started Tuesday night and got home Sunday morning. In the 2 years I was there, they never added a run that Im aware of, and only 1 senior guy left and I was offered the Minneapolis - Ames Ia run (225mi each way) - note - it wasnt really "offered". I left at 5am, got to Ames at 8am. My meet man from KC USUALLY got there between 11 and noon, which meant I sat 3-4 hours waiting on him (averaged 4 times a week - really). Then when I got back they usually had me work city for an hour or 2. I was on this for 2 months before I told the boss he needed to find someone else to do it one way or another (either find someone else or I would quit). After that they had me on the cleanup runs for 2 months, and then I left. My shoulder couldnt take much more.

Yeah you did what you could man. That terminal is a junk terminal anyways. I've never liked going there. You're on to greener pastures now so congratulations driver! I wish you the best!
