'Scuse a 4-wheelin', big-truckin' wannabe for be speaking without being spoken to (like that's ever stopped me, lol), but, 40 years of driving says the merg-er is the one with the problem. I'll help him solve it if I can, otherwise, he's got to look at all his options.![]()

I move over when ever possible i dont want the car or truck getting on the highway running into the side of me thats the problem now adays nobody has any courtesy if you can move over with it being save why not wonder if the driving schools are the ones teaching all the drivers to only run the center lane and cut across 2 lanes when they see there exit or when they get on see it every day use common sense not what someone told you to do just cause they said it don't mean its right.

You should safely move over & let the other driver come onto the road. Maybe you shift an auto, but all the trucks that i've driven were stick shifts. Its a pain in the ### to start over when you have to stop or slow down just because you didn't want to move over.

Move over if safe to do so.
Last thing you want is to spend several hours with a Pruis stuck under the trailer. -
You're right, i don't want to see another Volvo ad about not being able to stop.

I will have to vote Get over when and if it safe to do so. I seen Drivers cut in little on the unsafe but If I can I do. My last Company truck I drove, I never did, but I always had someone passing me. But then again, they were passing me on the left and on the Shoulder, why I went and got my OWN truck.
First accident I had in a Truck was I bounced off the wall trying to keep from hitting a Blonde in her red car. I saw her coming in so I slowed down knowing she was going to merge in and if I did not slow it would cause a problem. Well she never did. After passing the acceleration lane I started to get my speed back up and her she came inches from my bumper. So when I hit my brakes, my drives slide to the left and bounced off the Concrete Barriers. I took her tag number and call the NY State troopers, though it caused no damages, but if I turned it in as an Accident she would been the one in trouble with a hit n run, as per the State Trooper. But by her doing what she did, not only did I hit the wall, thee was a long line of Trucks and cars behind me that could have wrecked from the sudden stopping I had to do. -
I almost always try to get over....It's common courtesy in my opinion. If I can't get over though, I just stay where I am and maintain my speed and getting on the highway becomes something that you have to figure out.
There have been many times that a 4 wheeler tried to race me to the end of the ramp and got peeled off on the shoulder...That shure makes 'em mad!outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
