Another Company that would "not deserve to be graced by the OP's presence" at least by your standards, is the US Army. (Yes I get the sarcasm)

I learned a valuable lesson at the Ripe old age of 18 when I had a backing incident in Germany. Same thing, had a Ground guide on my blind side and he told me to stop, about a second after I hit the trailer on that side.

I went to the accident review board and pled my case "He didn't tell me to stop"... Their answer right before it was ruled a driver fault accident... You were driving, you were responsible... End of discussion.

This was preventable, and Werner is doing nothing any other training company wouldn't also do in some form or fashion.

Some companies would have terminated you over this so Werner is seemingly being quite generous in this case

One time I was going home and this young kid was trying to blind side between 2 trucks, gave up, tried the other side. I stood there and watched, Normally, I don't have the time for this, but, This time, I walked up to him, and said, " Go back to blind siding it in, and Ill help ya". I made sure he can see me at all times in his mirrors, and told him, keep getting out and look, then keep trying. He put his mind to it and finally got it in there. I did not tell him left or right, just if he was getting close to hit the other trucks. He got out and thanked me for the support. I told him "Keep trying to blind side your truck as much as possible, sometimes between 2 trailers parked in a dock, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE,and Keep getting out and LOOK.
Saw him another time at our company, and He always waved hi. The kid will do good at any job he goes to. Just had a good feeling about his attitude.

The accident is on you. You gotta get out and see whats going on back there.
My question is what and the heck was your trainer doing?
Scrathing his butt and picking his nose.

They were correct , you never , ever , trust any spotter completely , Its a 150 ft walk , walk it , if you're not sure and even if you are sure , if its a place you've never been in before...5 minutes is a small price to pay for being free from an accident.. Always remember that....

AS far as quitting , bad choice , remain with them til you're training is finished , you'll have less problems moving on with a better company if you do....better companies will see you leaving because of an accident , accept the repercussions , take your medicine ...AND GET OUT AND LOOK....

Really terrible advice , ( the he didn't have to GOAL part ) also that trainer ( term used loosely too ) should have instructed him to GOAL even with him standing there , you don't teach a rookie to not GOAL , you teach a rookie to make sure himself......a driver , not a spotter , is always first in line to be held responsible.....Wargames outlined what that trainer should have done very well.....
