You don't have a "trainer," You just have a another misanthropic moron making a little extra at your expense. 2 good options: grin and bear it, or call and ask to get another "trainer." Other options invlove leaving at the next stop, or tying him to the catwalk, both of which are not career enhancers. Try and relax, and just build your skills one day/maneuver at a time. Some people even do better when left alone.

The GI bill is accepted by some of the private schools. For instance 6 weeks and 148 hours of time. This doesn't help you any, but I mention it because I hate to see these these guys taking your GI benifits, and those of others, and not giving a fair value. Thank You for your service.

Sounds to me like your "trainer" most likely doesn't know the answers to the questions you are asking and is probably ill trained himself. As far as driving in heavy traffic, run a little slower and stay back aways at least till you get some experience, mountain driving is about the same, go slow. You can go down a grade too slow as many times as you want, but go too fast and it may be a one and done. Gear down, you should not have to use your brakes if you pick the right gear, usually one lower than the one you climbed the hill in. Good luck.

no power stearing isnt safe.....yea i know all trucks used to be like that, but the stearing was geared differently. You needed more turns to turn the same amount. Headlight out is also a dot violation, and a cheep one to fix.

My friend got a 22 week course paid for and for and like 1800 bucks a month at tmc from his gi bill. TMC makes him an apprentice for the first year so he can collect gi benefits.

You write a well thought out post and you seem like a reasonable guy. You are a new driver, you need a trainer who will train and support you. One kick to your seat or aggressive remark is all out takes to disqualify him from being a trainer. Of crst will not get you a better trainer, you may have to stick it out until they turn you loose , but I would be looking for s better company.

And yes, you are right to respect mountain roads, a lot could go wrong in a hurry there.I am pretty cautious there myself.

You need to check your routing because I-80 doesn't go through West, VA and you haven't been through mountains until you're out West Pennsylvania doesn't have mountains!

Get another trainer. You will learn some things on your own by yourself, but there is plenty a knowledgeable driver can show you to prepare you for the real world. The guy is a scum bag. I wouldn't let him yell at you either, I'd throw it back in his face. You don't deserve it, nor being stuck at CRST.

Most people sighing up with CRST expect to drive the minimum and then move on so your team partner will likely have less than 7 months of driving experience. My trainer had 19 years of experience and while I found him incredibly annoying he did teach me how to drive a truck.

Prison cells that hold two inmates have more room than a sleeper truck that sleeps two. Being that close to someone that you did not pick out is a very stressful situation.
