when i drove my first truck early 70's
    it had to be intuitive
uncle threw some keys at me said go bring this gravel over there
of course it was easier then with no power steering and 2 sticks
i never went across the rockies until 2012
i suppose a training video in denver might have helped

I was driving I-80 I would suggest you are proactive and not reactive, look ahead if you see a right lane ending sign in 2 miles you should already thinking changing lanes and don't wait until you're 1 3/4 miles away!

Knock it off with the people fly planes after 10 hours crap.... they certainly do not go from 10 hours to flying a commercial plan with passengers....

Although I am not very familiar with Watkins Shepherd. .. according to their website recent graduates do a 14 day training period.... apparently even the company you drive for believes training is necessary...

No they did not.... but seriously. .. you honestly think it is never the truck drivers fault...

I ride a motorcycle and it annoyes me when there is a motorcycle accident and the bikers always blame the car or truck... I have seen some stupid idiot riders out there... and sometimes it was the riders fault...

Sometimes it is the truck drivers fault.... you at least have to admit that the ones that happen In a truck stop or at shippers and recievers where there is no cars around in the truck drivers fault..

No it doesn't discredit the story line.... the driver who fell injured Tracy Morgan and killed another was at fault... the driver who fell asleep and ran into the school bus of kids was at fault...

you really think that every driver out there behind the wheel of a semi truck knows what they are doing and are good drivers....

OP... yeah, with only week left it is best to just stick it out... good luck and hope it goes well...

Your trainer is terrible. I'm a trainer, and also a l/o, and I am NEVER in the bunk while my student drives. They deserve my attention and instruction whenever they need it. Unfortunately there are so many trainers out there that are just doing it for the cash. Request a new trainer and tell the company about the issues you are having. Trainers are the face of the company, and are the new employees first real road experience. If the experience sucks, the new driver thinks the company in general sucks. Even my company has a few of these bad apples.

Use the stab braking method. Apply the service brakes until you are 5 mph below a safe speed, then build back up, repeat. If you feel you would like to downshift before going down the hill, then do so. Not while you're halfway down the hill..

Stop acting like driving a truck is tough and ill stop the comparison To show its a super gravy job. And they have no trainer time. Unless that very recently changed, I don't care what website says, it said they still had a school when I was there and they didnt. The company proves trainer time is a waste of time. Safety record verifies it. You can't break that argument, only ignore as it blows your theory that this is tough out of water. From your response, I wouldn't doubt if it was tough for you.

If its that tough, save us all and park. All Info is at your fingertips, if you can't find it, you really should park.

I never said it was never the truck drivers fault of course it is sometimes, I was merely stating the fact that if the media correctly reported news as it really happens their stories would be less appealing. Have you never had a 4 wheeler pass you in a hurry then cut you off to be able to make an exit? I have. How many times have 4 wheelers jump in front of you in traffic less than 2 feet from your bumper and then have to slam on the brakes because he or she noticed the traffic slowing. you seem to have tunnel vision and point out a couple of recent bad accidents where yes the truck driver was at fault. Whether it was a motorcycle, car, truck ,go cart, tractor what ever the trucker always gets the first blame no matter what. How many story head lines have you seen that says " truck driver runs into car carrying family" only to click on it and find out it was a pickup truck being driven. That head line itself stereo types this industry. So before you start labeling us with a blanket statement read before you post and see if it makes sense.
