Get hazmat and TWIC then move to a good tanker company such as Trimac Transportation or Groendyke Transport.
If you prefer flatbed there's also lots to choose from such as Lone Star Transportation , Waggoners, System Transport and some others.
Smart move on your part to be planning ahead and have a backup plan.Dominick253 Thanks this. -
thanks so much chinatown ya noone has told me about twic yet

Tanker drivers need TWIC for entry to sea ports, chemical plants, military bases. Google for nearest TWIC office. Some tanker and flatbed companies might require a passport or passport card for entry to Canada.
-
You run for Prime? They have a TWIC office in their Springmo Terminal where Driver Lineup is.

ya just found the twic here. werid i guess mabye because im not a tanker they havent told me anything about twic mabye if i go down tanker route they would tell me

Changing trucking jobs is, in general, a pain in the rear end! Maybe see if there are opportunities within Prime that could get you to your goals.

What I did was wait until I was close to a year and started looking. Started in tanks so I already had hazmat and twic
I planned on staying as long as I needed to, to take my time and find something that I'd be happy with. Even being a little picky, it didn't take long. After keeping an eye out for a few months, I found one that was a nice upgrade for my exp level, and got the job. Two years later I'm still there. No reason to stay somewhere if you can do a lot better elsewhere. Just be smart about it, read your interviewer and do as much research as you can on a potential employer. They're looking at you under a microscope, do the same to them -
One issue that is a drawback is the new company may not start benefits for 60 or 90 days, so a person will either be uninsured or paying COBRa, if they do not have insurance available from a spouses employer.Dominick253 Thanks this.
