I use it all the time running local, but I'm only on 19 if there are traffic issues.

I completely disagree. It's a "TOOL" that is a necessity. If used properly, it benefits and makes your job a lot easier. And just like a precise piece of tool, you just don't throw it in, you have to have it calibrated precisely, meaning..... having the correct antenna, coax cable and not having someone hacking inside the radio. Leave it stock.

They are probably trending toward obsolete now with all the other high tech gadgetry and smart phones and everything. I still have one on most of the time, but usually within the first hour of my day I have to turn the volume down because I get sick of all the whining and jabber-jawing. Then I forget to turn it back up. I mostly use it for checking in with guard shacks.

You said exactly what I was going to say Diesel Dave, I haul grain in the Midwest and I would say most of your grain haulers have them because it is nesscary to communicate with the different elevators that you go to.
I take it the companies don't have CB's in the office or guard shack that you frieght guys deliver too? I would think that would make it easier to find the door that you need to go to if there's multiple doors, but I don't know how all that works.
Like stated above just turn it down if you get tired of listening to it.

A)When your running with a co worker and you can bs, B)When the shipper/receiver gives you posted street routes and you get lost, so you called on a local. C) the interstate is shut down and they give you a heads up for the detours. D) you have a flat/blown tire or emergency and you or someone is trying to let you know......and the lists goes on.

Running with co worker while talking on the CB is a distraction. You should focus your eyeballs strictly on the road and your surroundings. That's what the phone is for when you have to take a different route because of construction. For detours there are signs along the way.All you need is the phone.

LMAO........ok........your entitled to your own personal opinion. Respectfully.....lol......not gonna back go back and forth with you on this one. What works for one that has been at this for quite awhile(38 yrs), might not work the newer generation of drivers. Distracted driving you say ?, so what does a cell phone do even though your on Bluetooth?........give me a break.....lmao
