I drive transfer dumps. It's an absolute must for my line of work. Without it you cannot do your job efficiently.
Should more drivers use their CB?

Not having a cb in a big truck is like not having a remote to your tv. Ya u can make due without it, but dang its nice! A must in my book.
MACK E-6, scottied67, JReding and 2 others Thank this. -
I'm amazed at how many people run in the mountains that either don't have one or have it off. Especially this time of year when you have mud and rocks coming down. Meet a truck and try and tell them about debris in their lane and it's silent. Enjoy your flat tires.

Selective hearing is useful for helping me do my job efficiently. Not having a radio seems selfish to me.

My favorite thing to do is insert an inflammatory remark into an already heated convo between a group of drivers and watch the meter go absolutely nuts.
I also frequently alert drivers to issues with their equipment such as lights out, mudflaps loose, etc anything really. Usually yields a response about 5% of the time but I still try.
One grocery facility I frequent has quite a hike to the guard shack to check in for those without a radio and sitting in the dry warm comforts of my truck while guys walk up there in the pouring rain makes it all worth while.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 18, 2017
Reason for edit: No politics pleaseDDlighttruck, rabbiporkchop and JC1971 Thank this. -
heres how you entertain yourself on the cb, when you hear a driver fighting with someone on the cb at the truckstop, tape them name calling someone on your phone, then play the audio of them back to them over the cb, then you can listen to them argue with themselves when you keep playing it back to them, you wanna talk about a laugh

I run a radio. I'm of the opinion that all trucks should have one.
People say why not just use a cell phone? To that I say ok what's the phone number of the east bound truck with no headlight?
Or the southbound truck who didn't notice the strap broke and now his loads loose.....
Trucks need radios.DDlighttruck, tscottme, MACK E-6 and 4 others Thank this. -
the week before last, I think it was Tuesday, I had just left my drop in Alsip,IL. and was heading for 294 when I heard a northbound driver telling southbound to get on the brakes because of an accident. I stayed on 127th st and went over to il50 and down to 57 that way. I was running short on hours and had make a pick up and start to TX. if I would have sat in traffic for an hour instead of getting to deliver early and move to my pick up for Friday day morning I would have had to drive Dallas rush hour that morning to get there and get loaded. I ended up at our yard Saturday around 11 as opposed to 1400 or later. to me, that's worth listening to a little bs on the radio. that's one instance out of dozens. My radio has paid for itself over and over. if I try to tell you that you have a light out, ire shredding, loose straps ect and I don't get a response, that's fine, I tried.

#### all you idiots who want to talk political or fill the waves with your vapid, empty-headed, rascist, inciteful, argumentative garbage (thanks Chicago!). If I wanted to hear that #### I'd work in an office that didn't have 22 wheels. -

The way things are going, the social media did the same thing. Descent into filth and wasteful energy. Pretty soon the net will not be that useful when anything of value is moderated or censored outright by a handful of major companies without competition or punishment for doing so. It becomes a liability already.
