I went with Palstar when I was on 10m using the wire, it was a solid well built unit....

The front firing speaker is plenty loud, the radio/scanner setup is only about two feet from my head so given the proximity, it works very well.

The radio and scanner I have mounted on a slider bracket, not the el cheapo rat shack kind of old, this one is really slick and locks tight! This is so I can move the radio/scanner from my Van (The Oven) to my Jeep (Black Betty) the setup was about $80 for the two receiving brackets and the one mounting to the radios. -
Yes thery are very nice . Very well built and will take lots of power.
My R7 needs no help except on 75 or the edges of 40 and on 6 FM otherwise it is under 2:1 on all bands. -
almost wish I would have kept the tuner when I sold off the HF gear..

They will have to pry my station out of my cold dead hands. -
