Your wasting your money if you think your going to see any change from going to a 5000 because your not. The only difference between the 2 antennas is the power rating, price and that's it. You want to see a real difference then get a 10K.

i just use a 102'' whip mounted to the bottom mirror bracket pointing forward then pulled the antenna back and tied it to the to of the mirror bracket=6-9miles average transmit and god only know how far im receiving.Paid 20 bucks for antenna,a buck for some zip ties and some electrical tape for raping around an area on top mirror bracket so when i tied the antenna to it it wouldnt interfere. Its stiff dosent flap in the wind gets great singnal and 1.1 on the swr all the way trough the channels.

    Radio
    -Cobra 29LTD Black Chrome
    -Modulation peaked
    -Connex Echo/Reverb Board
-Premium Peak/Tune (done by Randy at Big O's in Indy, IN)
    -Larger MOSFET final
-Bass Peaked on Mike circuit (makes Road King sound like Astatic 636L)
-14 Gauge Power coard (bought a Galaxy 959, and return it with the smaller 16 gauge that came with my radio..haha!)
-Radio is Peaked (PEP) at 66 watts now with a dead key of 3 watts
-Internal Speaker Remove (space was required for mods)

    Mike
-Road King clone microphone DP56-R (Polished Red)

    External Speaker
-Para Dynamics Speaker (placed in passenger-side overhead compartment)

    Coax
-9' of 8X (Mini-8) Coax (neatly hung up by adhesive cable holders)

    Antenna & Mounting
-Wilson 2000T 1500watts (full whip, but needs to be trimmed to lower SWR on 40, been lazy and don't have a cutter to clip steel). Antenna is tilted at 10 degrees, so that when the truck moves, the whip is pointing up. Also works good parked.
-Stainless Steel universal mirror bracket (Weather Sealed Metal & Mounted reverse(to keep bugs off coax))
-Gumdrop -OR- (Bee Hive) Antenna mount
-Black Twisty Ties to hang Coax on back side of mirror bracket (helps keep bugs off coax and keeps it clean)

(Above photos are shot at, Sapp Bros. TS, Cheyenne, WY - facing west, east side of lot)

    Future Radio (very soon)
    :biggrin_25515:
    -Galaxy 94HP 100 watt 10-Meter Amateur Radio
-Not sure what I want done to it yet, but I don't expect to have much done other than a Premium tune and alignment by Randy in Indy
