I dropped my Galaxy 959. It still picks up static but none of the lights and LCD boards work. I'm a bit pissed at myself being I have almost $600 tied up in it. I bought one of those new Cobra 29 digital face radios. Pretty neat but lacks a lot of the power I'm used to. They are still new to the market so I don't know if any CB shops have any experiance with them yet as far as addtions and peak and tunning.

I have been told that under all the pretty digital stuff there lies a fairly normal cobra 29ish circuit board..

American Trucker, is your CB mounted in that space? Ours is similar but we can't figure out how to mount it in the hole and get it stable in there.

yeah I have one of those, took it to the cb shop and was told it is the same as the old 29, he peaked/tuned and modded it for me, said it was the same as working on the old ones.

AT is gone. On my last FL, I mounted the bracket to the bottom of that bin. Either line up two holes or drill a new one in the bracket to get the position right. If memory serves, there was holes pre-molded in the bottom that would take a short self-tapping screw. I just can't remember the details since I did that one almost two years ago.

Once the bracket is in the right spot and tight, mount the radio in it and crank the side knobs tight. The rubber washer between the bracket and the radio case keep it from tilting and absorb some vibration. The whole job is easier to do if you take the little crap pocket and trim off the right hand side so you can get in from the back. I think you can also remove the speaker grille from the underside too for a little more access. It's still a tight fit. Just take your time and do it right instead of going thru all that and still having a radio bouncing around in there.

I run a Cobra 29 LTD (Older model with Microphone connector on the side) with a Palomar 250 kicker but I'm having to buy a new antenna. I don't have a picture of the set up.
