i usually dont find a problem with the truck stop showers....i mean if you wear sandals and use yer own towel, yer not really exposed to much even in the less clean truck stops....and yes a couple pack of wipes are good to have...

as for feeling icky... its OTR trucking and sometimes you will feel this way...it is what it is!

    Motownfire Thanks this.

As said, it is impracticable to have a shower on board a truck. When it comes to the cleanliness of a shower room at a truck stop, just LOOK before you actually go inside!! Some will look dirty like for instance the floors will have a tint to the tiles, but it very well may not be dirty. I would however recommend that you DO NOT SIT on the chair or bench they may have inside. I have never really seen those cleaned, and you do not know what the last driver left "behind" for you.

On average, truck stops have gotten much better in the cleaning of the entire truck stop, not just the dining area.

You get to shower as frequently as once a year??

    You da man!!!

( a smelly one, but da man still!!):biggrin_25522:

    U4EA Thanks this.

Why is that ? There are plenty of T/S's that you could've showered at. There are 4 within 30 miles of me in Indio,Ca. Granted metro areas like San Francisco don't have a lot of T/S's but along I-5 and 99 there is quite a few. To the OP like someone posted earlier most T/S's give you a free shower if you get 50 gallons or more. Also most charge $10-$15 for a shower if you need to shower everyday. This might be tax deductable too.

Can't go wrong with the Little America T/S showers.
Don't know about others, but the one in Flagstaff actually had a big bath tub separate from the shower!!!
Didn't use it, but I believe it had spa-like jets inside it.

I ever decide to get back on the road, or just taking a road-trip in POV, then I'm trying it out again.:biggrin_255:

Anywho, the baby-wipes and solar camping showers are a sure bet when you can't get to a T/S shower, especially when the lot is packed and you don't want to play "musical chairs" waiting for a spot.
Another thing I usually did is if I found on-street parking where no one cries about it, I usually just pulled the bicycle and gym gear out, and ride over to a gym chain I had a membership for.
Shower, get a workout, shower again and hit the hot-tub!!

Gym membership is a great way to get a shower and out of the truck stop.
Solar camp shower works well too. I sleep much better when clean.

Probably a topic for a whole different thread, but what are some good athletic club chains that offer nationwide access and decent hours of operation?
