I don't understand the problem. Haven't you been in a truck stop? Seems like alot of guys and gals don't know what a shower is for!

Seriously though, dispatchers will try to push you, especially teams. Wife and I ran for 1 company that had runs of USF freight that had to average 50 mph to deliver on time. We made time to shower! Company didn't like it if we were late but I just asked the dispatcher if he had a shower that morning and it usually shut him up.

not trying to hijack the thread or change topics, so could someone send me a private message, and tell me what gym chain has the best access for drivers. most gyms closer to trucks stops, etc. i have really been wanting to look into it, so i can lose a few lbs. without working out, you can only lose so much eating rabbit food. and maybe a chain where middle age pot bellied fellas wont feel too out of place and self conscious.

I usually pull into the stop at the end of the day and buy the 50 gallons to get the free shower. That way I've got plenty of fuel for the next day and a clean nights sleep. That's a smooth end of the day for me, and I'd probably do it no different if I were paying for the fuel. Sure, you may save $20-30 if you buy 150+ gallons at a cheap place, but then you end up paying for the shower for the next 2-3 nights, so there goes that big savings. (I run low miles but heavy stops so I don't burn through fuel that quick...)

A ###### evening is putting on your fuel and realizing there's nowhere to park your truck. They outta have VIP section for people who actually come into the truck stop and spend money. Wishful thinking in an unjust world I realize.

This never bothered me. I pull into the truck stop, find a parking space and stay the night (or day). Of course, I DO spend money in the dinning room, store, etc. Then again, it does not bother me, when all I do is pull in for a restful sleep, and nothing else. It is what it is, a "Truck Stop", and we are NOT obliged to spend our money there. But I have heard countless biotching from drivers saying just what you did, no place to park after getting fuel.

One "suggestion" would be to get in and park first, drop the trailer, go back and fuel up. Just don't "dilly-dally" and get it done, and hook up again. This way, no one can report a dropped trailer in the space. Not that it seems to matter anymore either.
