I agree with you completely and I am passionate about avoiding the middlemen in trucking. Please share what broker this is so we can be prepared or avoid them.

Just curious, is there a fee or a reduced one if you use direct deposit?

I completely agree with OP about the principle here.
He did not sign up for the privilege of truckstop.com sending him a check. If there is any fee, it should be between the broker and truckstop.com. The broker has to pay what they agreed to.
Besides, ACH has some risks involved and you had better read all those little ACH fine print paragraphs. For example, it was told here once that TQL under the pretense of an unsettled claim, drew money from someone else's account.
Don't be ridiculous about processing and issuing a check costing money. Soon enough I'll hear that licking a post stamp and using ink to write a check takes too much manpower and is cost prohibitive. It does cost money to run business and accounts payable is a part of it.
Shorting a carrier by $25 for sending a check is a outright scam. I am subscribed to TructStop.com - their full version but having read this thread, I'll consider reducing the subscription to the bare minimum or cancel it completely in favor of expanding DAT subscription.

Scanning a POD and making an invoice takes some time and effort too, you need internet connection and use up data allowance in the process - it all does cost money too.
Should we start billing "invoice fee" of say $25.00 too?

Fortunately, so far this is the first one I've heard of.
Landstar charges $1 for their billing fee too.
Other fees and penalties from brokers are not unheard of either. For example, missed appointments, not submitting paperwork on time or other service failures but these I can understand to a certain degree.

Yea those Landstar fee's are funny. I get charged/deducted an additional $3.25 because my insurance isn't as much as they want it. Don't run too many Landstar loads though, so not too big of a deal, but still ridiculous in my opinion.

Name any other service provider (industry) that would accept such ridiculous fees to be deducted. When the power goes out at home can I charge an inconvenience fee to the power company for failing to provide its service? These brokers nickel and dime cuz they know they can get away with it. Meanwhile they just made 1K on your sweat and wouldn't give you that extra $100 you asked for cuz "that's all we have in it".

Think I'd have to ask myself if that truckstop load is worth the $25 surcharge.

I mean if it pays $100 more than brand x, you're still $75 to the good.

Although I fully relate to having to tolerate your soul being run through a wood chipper just to do business.
