Personally I'm part of the all about safety mentality. Driving in the fast lane at a slower pace than what everyone else is going, whether the legal speed or not, causes traffic to back up and bunch up, leads to unnecessary road rage and way too many passing you on the right. Correct me if in reading this wrong.

With that logic, then no truck should ever be in the hammer lane.

No, not what I'm saying. Nothing wrong with hitting the hammer lane to pass slower traffic. Staying there when you're the slower traffic is wrong though.

    Yes, it is.

Anytime a truck gets in the hammer lane, traffic backs up. Keep them right and not impede traffic. They are slower than the ones speeding and 4 wheelers.

    Not reading anything.

Whenever a truck pulls out to pass another vehicle, it gets a long line behind it.

When it is a governed truck, passing another truck, it gets longer.

Logically, if it is passing, then it is no longer the slower vehicle. But, to the many road raging people it is.

I see cars trying to pass a truck on the right as soon as it clears the vehicle it passes. I have seen the cars weave to the shoulder to pass them both.

It really depends on where the action happens.

If in the highly populated area of 90 around Chicago to Rockford, it is hard to move either lane with the traffic.

When down in Arkansas on 30, no problem to move between the lanes.

I personally just do not let it bother me.

Only time I hang out in the hammer lane is in congested areas with lots of merging traffic where its posted 'trucks ok' or 'thru traffic keep left.' Sorry, but I'm not going to play right pedal left pedal for 20 miles in the right lane just so supertruckers can speed on by. If you're in such a hurry with a big-power truck, you can go to the right of me & take your chances that no ones merging on that next ramp...
