I have a 2002 Peterbilt with a Signature Series 600 Cummins in it. It has an 18 speed, 46k rears, 3.90 gears in it if that matters or not at this point. About 3 years ago or so the engine developed a low fuel pressure issue. The amber check engine light will come on at high speeds above 55mph. When the light comes on you can feel a drop in power from the engine. In cold weather around the 30-40 degree range the engine does perfectly fine until later in the day for whatever reason when the fuel tanks are low and then the light comes on and power loss. In the summer it takes little time for issue to begin right off the bat.
I have had it in and out of shops and watched mechanics pull out their hair on the issue. I have had new fuel lines from the tanks to the fuel filter replaced. New injectors, new fuel pump and everything in between that we can think of. I'm hoping someone here has had the same issue and hopefully can point me in the direction of resolving this issue. Love my truck and I want it running at full power like anyone else would.
Thanks for any help.

@OLDSKOOLERnWV might be able to help you. Think he’s got a Big Cam. A Signature 600 is a version of an N14, am I correct?
Skinner Aldean and Oxbow Thank this. -
Dangit, CRS strikes again..........I swear there was another thread dealing with this same exact problem recently, although I don't remember what engine. Anyone else remember?
To the OP, it's not making oil is it? Probably not as many folks have looked at it. I'd probably grab an oil sample just to be sure.Skinner Aldean and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
@Big Road Skateboard , we're you helping in the other thread?

Checked tank vents?
Does it have a fuel temp sensor?Skinner Aldean and Oxbow Thank this. -
In the summer does it do it regardless of fuel tank level? Or is it always when the fuel tanks get low?Skinner Aldean, Sons Hero, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
@Diesel Dave maybe, @Goodysnap? I can't remember who the ISX guys are here
OP, what is the fault code, what is the fuel pressure, and have you verified fuel pressure when this problem occurrs?Last edited: Nov 12, 2024
