Yep, thats what I did when I wasn't able to stop for my 8 hours in a place I could shower.

Yeah redneck- in those new, big toll plazas they have free showers in the back, and the roaming cleaning crew does a pretty good job of keeping them clean.

Baby wipes are the most important thing a trucker should carry (along with a BIG hammer for trailer tandems!)- I would shower every other day at the very least, although every time I passed through one of my company's terminals I would catch a freebie.:smt112

I showered when ever possible....unless I was coming home. With the cleanliness of truckstop showers always being questionable, I'd wait a day or two until I got home.

I think your weekend low numbers are indicative of drivers being home on the weekend.

As a driver who has been OTR for weeks at a time and had the advantage of being home every weekend, I can atest that the reason there are fewer showers being sold on the weekend is because there are fewer drivers running the weekend. This also explains why it's a lot easier to find parking on Friday and Saturday nights.

Also, when I was home every weekend, I found it harder to run 2800 miles in 5 days than it was in 7. Therefore, certain sacrifices had to be made. My goal would always be to shower every day, but I couldn't always achieve that goal due to my work load. Sometimes there were weeks when I could only shower two times and that was usually as you mentioned, in the middle of the week and before going home. I ALWAYS carry some sort of wipes with me and will ALWAYS use them on a day when I can't shower. I prefer the cleansing wipes you'll find in the health and beauty dept at any Wal*Mart in America. Even if I didn't shower, however, I would ALWAYS change my drawers and socks and T-shirt. Jeans were usually good to wear for 2 days, unless of course I somehow got dirty. I would never be seen with nasty stained up grungy looking clothes.

At one time in my career I was a trainer and yet at another time I was a team driver. Those times when there were two drivers in the truck made it very easy to shower every day. We would always stop to switch drivers and I always planned my trips so that during this time we could shower. Of course, with two people living in the small confines of a big truck, you've gotta be considerate of your co-driver. I was very self conscious of this when I was a trainer because I didn't want to be the subject of future "trainer horror stories".

Guess I'll be honest... when I was driving I would shower once a month or so. Sometimes I'd go longer than that and only take a shower when I was getting ready to go home. I barely stopped to sleep, let alone shower. I'd eat on the go, heck if I could of had a fuel truck pace me I would have gone days without stopping.
