Interesting questions? So I'll pose one--How come when I park way out of the way(usually in the daytime) way away from everyone--with half the place empty and a bunch of spots close to building--shut my truck off--open my bunk windows--and kick back--inevitably some clown with an old noisy truck--with weedburner exhaust park next to me--raise their idle rpm--and then go in to eat? I mean REALLY! happens all the time--
Anyway as to your statements Condo--I've been doing this a looooong time--and I also never understood pulling into a space(for too many reasons to go into now)it wasn't done when I was a kid starting out. Having said this--many of my friends have started to do this to avoid getting hit--their attitude is they can do less damage to my wagon--personally I try to pick my spots more carefully or leave--but we all know this isn't always possible(although i have changed the way I plan trips considerably over the last few years due to parking concerns).
As for lights--if we are talking headlights--there is no excuse--as for running lots-I NEVER park in a busy lot without leaving my running(clearance) lites on. Not all of them--just cab-and bottom rail on trailer--I figure if someone does have to get in next to me--in the dark--I'd rather I'm easier to see. Of course nowadays--I can do this with my truck off--Love my tripak!

I park all the way in the back of a parking spot when I am bobtailing to keep these idiots from ripping my hood off when they try to back up for the first time !!! If it isn"t their first time they sure act like it !!!

 

Ol'hand, depending on the situation around me when we did have the occasional shut down or shower I would pull in nose first in the back row. I did it as a courtesy to other drivers because of the reefer. It put a little distance between the other drivers sleeping. I myself would always try to park along side other reefers too. When you are hauling reefer you really get used to it and I think that it is why other drivers don't think about it being rude to non-reefer haulers. I know it really sucks for non-reefer drivers and when you are tired and stressed out that is the last thing you want to deal with. Of course a lot of drivers have APU's now and some of those can get quite loud.

In regards to 1&2, I would rather take the time to take that spot, and have the confidence of getting in & out safely than risk an idiot damaging something. Of course, no one can speak for the 2 people I am squeezing between.

 

I have to agree--and my new APU reminds me of some reefers I used to pull--the new TKs are awfully quiet. Anyway as my grandfather said--to long ago to remember--"Always try to be courteous to your neighbors"

I always pick the spot furthest from the entrance, away from the noobie backup practice sessions and the noise of the fuel island jockeys. A longer walk to the piss house never hurt anyone. When it is in the 60s and 70s outside, why the #### do people idle?
