I got my coax off of the c.b. tech. He explained it to me but I'm not sure the exact name of it. He said to stay away from the cheap black and buy the clear coated kind if I needed one and couldn't find a tech. He said around 18' was necessary. He also said the radio is only good as the antenna. He recomended the power stick with the little stinger on top.
I haven't messed with my radio for over a year and its collecting dust in the garage but I was just relaying info that I know. My radio used to bleed on other channels barefoot so I guess that set up was good.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
As for 1,000 watts EXCEPT for moonbounce I have NEVER ran even 500 watts sorry there is no real need for that power .Another Canadian driver and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
No kidding, you would bleed over 4 channels either direction lol.

ok i would think a dual set may hear better but would not transmit as far as your splitting the power of your radio between two ant's almost like say you have a 50 watt radio well you would have 25 leaving each antenna ...25 wont push as far as 50.... of course i could be completely wrong...im gonna google that for sure.

ok i found this

but then they also say this. http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs/NGP_DUAL.htmAnother Canadian driver and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
I've read it before, but was worth the review.
I now have a truck that is leased with a co-phased harness installed, and the in dash radio is run off of this with some type of splitter. I figured it works, why mess with it especially since it may be gone on short notice and replaced with something else. This is on a Columbia with the deluxe covered mirrors.
Otherwise, I have run singles from almost day one and have had decent results with them.
Broke one off and had trouble finding a match for it.
I ended up switching to tuneable tip Firestick 4 footers, It works good with them, too. These are not no ground plane antennas.Last edited: Apr 27, 2011

I don't know why so many are hung up over the dual antenna thing. You need them 9 ft apart for a proper tune. That's a pretty wide vehicle. Heck I'm not so sure the lane of any given highway is that wide.
Even better is all the pick up trucks running duals in the bed right up against the cab corners and the antennas are short 4-5 foot antennas. I can only wonder if these same people even know what an SWR is. They're probably the ones you hear every 30 seconds asking for a radio check because they can't get out a quarter of a mile.
It's a shame more people do not properly understand how a citizens band transceiver antenna works.
My 2 cents one single antenna dead middle of vehicle is more than adequate for an antenna.Another Canadian driver and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
