One 1000 watt 5' FGT-5 smack dab in the middle here. Had a 4' and debated another going dual and thought better of it and just decided to add an extra foot in the middle and call it good. Don't think I could do much better than I am now.
Single antenna or co -phase

My 2 cents-if you're willing to put the time in to set each antenna as if it were it's own single antenna, and then run co-phase to them, you might benefit from better receive, I did. Haven't noticed a loss or gain in transmit distance.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
That's what I'm looking for is better receive. Figured the 9' was doable on the mirrors but also figured I'd gain more by going 5'. 4' is the max I'd go on the mirrors from the breakage standpoint. So for me me it was dual 4's or a single 5' and figured I'm better off with the single 5'.

99.999% of Trucking Radio's are not set to your opinion
Some splatter worse then others, having higher wattage does not
define higher splatter in average cases.
You would starve if your business was tuning "Trucking Radios"

huh??? I have no clue what you just said but then I seriously don't think you do either.

No kidding I was wondering too ...

None of what you said made any sense.
But I suppose your idea of a "good sounding radio" is the one that can be heard 5 channels either direction of the channel being used. Most people would agree that's more annoying than anything. A properly tuned radio doesn't splatter.
Oh yeah....if I were tuning "trucking radios" for a living, I'd tune them so they'd sound their best on the air, crystal clear without being heard on the adjacent channels. And I wouldn't just twist pots inside the radio to make the "feel good" meter (if I even had one LOL) swing all the way to the right with over modulated distortion a.k.a. "feel good power".
I think most hard working people would prefer an honest businessman any day over the crook looking to get in your wallet any which way he can.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Being the groupie he is I can't help but wonder if "someone" is feeding him stuff to say and he's just getting it all mixed up. lol
Sort of like the one where clippping the limiter and over modulation was ok and wouldn't distort when proper compensation was done.
Never did answer me when asked just what that proper compensation was now that I think about it.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
