I hauled some bakery equipment once that can be broken down to smaller section:according to the rules if anything requires skilled labor
Anything that requires special labor and an extensive amount of time to be reduced to smaller sections is considered non divisible.

Absolutely you can permit this trailer (it is the single indivisible piece) for overweight - empty of product. Much like hauling oil rig skids like mud pumps - where multiple pieces are permanently mounted on a skid.
If the the product inside is required to make the machine (whatever it is) function then again almost all states will allow this - exception for sure is Arkansas. Arkansas will require it to be drained - same as hauling a transformer (AR would not issue me a permit to move a transformer through their state with oil in it)

Since I can’t tell if that is a transport trailer or a machine that utilizes the gas for something- I can’t say 100%.

I would not hesitate to move it under a non-divisible permit even with product (assuming the potential hazmat is not an issue)

    Hey - thanks.

That’s my thoughts on it too.

I can dump 800 lbs in chains and binders, and run 1/4 - 1/2 tanks, to allow for the “estimated “ 2,00o lbs of gas when filled.

Just wanted to know if it could be weight permitted for a couple of grand over if needed.

I wouldn’t bother - just permit it and go. I have to permit my tower trailer all the time and it splits in half. No issues with that

How is the state going to know if or how much hydrogen weight is in the unit ?

BOL - which is apparently wrong.

I dumped all chains and binders, let fuel burn to 1/3rd tank, and I juuuuuuust slide in around 80k full of hydrogen.

BOL states 4,188lbs of product, it’s less than 2k.

    Rather interesting customer.

I thought hydrogen is lighter than air.... shouldn’t your loaded weight be less than empty weight.....?[/QUOTE]
I worked at a place that had a helium trailer, I forget the exact numbers but fully loaded it gained only 2000 lbs. it’s funny to think about, what if it sprang a leak going down the road, at some point between crammed full of helium and empty of helium, that trailer will be lighter than empty. Or something.
