Six people killed by Truck in Chattanooga TN.

I see it EVERYDAY and happens to me everyday for some stupid reason or another.

I was in West Virginia the other day with 2k in my box going up a steep grade and there was 3 lanes.
Some Jack*** was tailgating me for no reason... I was going 50-55 in the middle lane and with trucks going 20 in the right line. Then while in the rain up this steep grade some idiot CRST driver pulls out in front of me going 20MPH trying to pass another slow truck.
I had to manage to slow down fast enough with me being light in rain, reminder that dumbo is behind me and without plowing into the idiot CRST driver.
Tell you one thing I don't mind decapitating a tailgater vs me crashing into somebody else if it came to it as terrible as that sounds.
It's not my fault you didn't want to keep a safe following distance. I can't help it when some idiot cuts me off when they shouldn't

Nah, there are some good folks in my generation. When I left the pharmacy I left it in the very capable hands of someone just shy of my age.

Customers still ask and request if I'm ever coming back, but they like the person I picked.

My personal hope is that the good parts of my generation teach their kids the same and the ones that are raised by the bad parts realize what a crock of #### it is to expect stuff to be handed to them.

That being said... I'm seeing signs and billboards everywhere saying, "give more room!" And things of that nature. It quite clearly states in the driver's license book (at least in Ga) for normal drivers that you should give one second of following distance per 10mph. I say draw the line there. If you're following closer for more than a mile, you should get a ticket.

 

One of the things I've started doing on the interstate if I see a slowdown or expect to slow down I'll tap the brakes lightly 3 times just enough to make the brake lights flash on and off.

Doesn't matter if there isn't anyone behind me or if they are following a safe distance. I do it anyways.

Tailgaters usually hang back and get the message that I intend to slow down at least, but even if it's their fault for hitting me I would still rather not have to deal with the hassle.

 

If it wasn't for stupid people, there would be no need for big government. Got to keep feeding the machine and there are plenty who cluelessly oblige.

Well, nobody said it was perfect. The blind might be leading the blind, but it's probably still better off than the blind wandering aimlessly everywhere.

So you are one of those guys that I have no idea what they are going to do next?

Anybody that taps their brake pedal for no reason makes me nervous.

Brake lights were designed to let someone KNOW what your intentions are.....not to GUESS what they are.

 

The pressing of the pedal is meant to signal my intentions to slow down or stop.

I do not do that at stop lights or places where it should be obvious why I'm slowing or stopping.

I also don't tap it unless I know full well that I'm going to follow through with that action. If I'm unsure, then I simply gently press and hold the moment before the brakes engage.

If you can't figure out that means I'm going to do something or something is up, then yes it's meant to make you nervous and think about my intentions so you'll be cautious.

Now, I'm a fair and logical person I believe. So I'll offer you a chance to tell me why that is more of a hazard and does more harm than good. If you can do that beyond a shadow of a doubt then you have my word that I will no longer do that. Deal?
