Six states consider faster speeds

So will fleet trucks still be governed to 62mph?

 

I think it's insulting I have to pay to use the Florida Turnpike yet I'm confined to America's ridiculous speed rules. Once you get out of St. Cloud going south there is nothing out there, nothing at all until you get to Ft. Pierce, yet there is bears all over the place and hiding like it's a freaking movie. Makes me sick. There should be a big red sign that voids the speed limit on toll roads that travel through the middle of freaking nowhere.

 

Purchased The 2004 chevette zo6 years back. loves to run my state billion dollar toll road to no where, above 160 long straights and wide curves.
Those black and white signs are suggestions. Hammer down !

My state has a few choppers and even slower patrol vehicles.

 

Although going that fast in this state you risk having Bill and Lurrlinda cut you off in their beige Buick Regal doing 61 mph trying to go around Comcar doing 57. You better have some good brakes and tires.

 

On this road your worst enemy is darkness for about 60 miles..
I think confused enough people with the edits over a few hours. You pay $4.80 to travel the 60 miles lol. Autobahn right coast with no traffic / police patrols. Think the state troopers use it for cleaning out carbon in the motors and bail .

 

Really doesn't apply to trucks...we are governed by the company settings....and they are always trying to save fuel

They keep turning trucks down...Not up

 

Fleet trucks keep getting slower for fuel mi and also they say make it safer ?. Has to be a tipping point when it becomes less profitable. Meaning cutting into there profit margin. Yes they might be getting good fuel mi, but at what cost?. Can they deliver the customers freight in a timely manner?. Retention of drivers,etc. I believe the best speed limiter is the drivers right foot. Seen to many close calls over the years where a 4 wheeler does not realize the trk is traveling that slow in say an 80mph speed zone. It could very well be inattention on the 4 wheelers part. I know the routes i run all the time the cars get very impatient and take risks to get around said cmv. Especially when there are a group of them cmv's bunched together and decide on a 4 or 5 mile snail race. You know i've got a 62.3 mph trk and the other guy has a 62.1 mph trk. Very little patience for this. I agree with ooida traffic should run what ever the speed limit or flow of traffic dictates. Not these rolling road blocks of slow #@# fleet trucks. Believe better driver training all around is needed. Just my 2 cents on the subject.

 

The Chevette I owned was lucky to do 85 mph. It would do 0-60 in about 20 seconds.
